Serendipity strikes again! I recently purchased a Canon Powershot S5 IS digital camera. We decided to drive over Central Park and just take some pictures of whatever. It was a refreshingly warm October day so I figured they would be a lot of activity in the park. As luck would have it the 2007 People En Espanol Fiesta was in full swing at the Central Park SummerStage concert venue. For free! Naturally, we went and covered the event for your enjoyment.When we first walked in they were showing episodes from Ugly Betty as a promotion for the ABC series, on two large screens. This being a Hispanic event, the episodes where dubbed in Spanish with Spanish subtitles. Once that was over we were treated to Kat Deluna performing several of her songs including her hit “Whine Up”. Much like her music video for Whine Up her performances were very energetic and fun to watch.Next up was Fanny Lu a Grammy Nominated Latin Pop singer with catchy Tejano sounding music. I enjoyed the melody of her music and the smooth way she and her dancers moved. I especially liked “No Te Pido Flores”, and “Carinito”.Then the Queen of Reggaeton, Ivy Queen, came on and it was clear to see she was the crowd favorite. Her dancers where energetic and tight. They added spectacular visuals to Ivy’s already great performance.After the last performance we sneaked into the VIP tent and mingled with the People invitees. We took some pictures and had some desert. All in all, a wonderful time was had for such a serendipitous circumstance.NycSummer
